BI-LO Feeds Laurens County Residents Through Senior Options

David Carver, Manager of Laurens BI-LO presents Christine Pyles and Jacqueline Robinson of Senior Options with a check from The BI-LO Charity Golf Classic. The check, for $10,004.60, will be used to help provide programs for hunger relief in Laurens County. BI-LO Charities helps provide funding for hunger relief, educational, and children’s programs throughout the Southeast.

Just before the holidays, BI-LO Charities donated more than $88,000 to 15 organizations—including Laurens County’s Senior Options. According to Senior Options Executive Director James Hill, the donation of $10,004.60 came from last summer's BI-LO Charity Classic Golf Tournament and will be used for local programs such as Meals on Wheels.

Executive Director of BI-LO Charities Carol Browning said, “The mission of BI-LO Charities is to support the advancement of children, education and hunger relief efforts in every community that BI-LO operates in. Each organization we provide funding for continues to make a substantial impact.”

Hill said BI-LO has become an important partner in Senior Options' overall budget each year, and he encourages any corporation or group of friends from Laurens County to participate in the 2010 golf tournament.

"BI-LO has really been great for us over the years.  Our volunteers get out there every summer and help facilitate the tournament, and in return, we get a lot of help for our programs," Hill said.  "It really is a fun event, and it's something you know will go directly toward a basic need right here in our community."
