The South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donor-supported organization. Programs and services focus on the elimination of Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; providing and enhancing care and support for all affected; and reducing the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Hospice of Laurens County
Hospice of Laurens County was established in 1987 by a group of volunteers that noticed a need in the community for such a service. We are a not-for-profit organization; accepting all patients regardless of their ability to pay for services. Hospice services are designed especially to help terminally ill patients, families and friends face the physical, emotional, social, financial, and spiritual aspects of their lives, and the patient’s death, together in an atmosphere of support and acceptance. By alleviating the patient’s pain and fear, Hospice care fosters the spiritual strength to live as fully as possible all the days of one’s life.

For the past 10 years, a series of Mature Adults Count publications has recorded and tracked statistics about South Carolinians aged 50 and above. The latest report, Mature Adults Count: Opportunities, Challenges and Choices describes how our older population is in the process of doubling in size.
Upper Savannah Council of Governments
Upper Savannah was the first multi-county planning and development organization to be created in South Carolina. The Upper Savannah region includes six counties: Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick and Saluda. The Administration on Aging, or AoA, is the Federal focal point and advocate agency for older persons and their concerns. For over 35 years, the AoA has provided home and community-based services to millions of older persons through the programs funded under the Older Americans Act.
